EPA details plan for Tremont City Barrel Fill cleanup

Local officials learned more specifics on the planned $27 million cleanup of the Tremont City Barrel Fill, including that the process will be complex and conducted with caution to avoid any safety risks, meaning it will not happen as quickly as wanted.
Region 5 EPA Community Involvement Coordinator Adrian Palomeque and EPA Remedial Project Manager Jenny Polster used a Zoom presentation last week to update the Springfield City Commission, representatives of state and federal office-holders and clean water activists.
