Springfield City School District adds more Health Career opportunities for students

    August 21, 2025

The Springfield City School District is adding new State Tested Nursing Aide (STNA) high school courses for the 2025-2026 school year, in alignment with the district’s Healthcare Career Pathway.

Courses are available to juniors and seniors. The program consists of two courses: Medical Terminology/Patient-Centered Care and STNA Certification. In the first course, students learn the basics of caring for patients, bathing, feeding, catheter care, administering patient care supplies, performing safety checks, ensuring cleanliness, monitoring vital signs, and reading EKGs. In the second, students will prepare to take the Ohio State Tested Nursing Aide certification and acquire the skills necessary to work as nurse aides in long-term care facilities, hospitals, and other healthcare settings.
